Dr. Christina Chan
OWNER | OPTOMETRIST
Everything you see at Komoka Optometry–from the team members you meet, to the interior design, our collection of frames and state-of-the-art technology–is built on Dr.Christina Chan’s dream of giving Komoka the gift of good vision. From an early age, Dr. Chan knew she loved helping people and wanted to channel that passion into her own medical practice. After receiving her Honours Bachelor of Medical Science (with a double major in Pharmacology, Toxicology and Physiology) from the University of Western Ontario in her hometown of London, Ontario, Dr. Chan went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Florida in 2011. As a Doctor of Optometry, Dr. Chan makes it her goal to care for her clients by building strong relationships and treating each patient like family. She’s based her practice on her commitment to ensuring your eye health and vision is well cared for by taking the time to get to know you and understand your unique needs on a personal level. As the previous co-owner of Upper Richmond Optometry in Arva, Dr. Chan is now bringing her passion for new evolutions in eye care and her unique style and fashion sense to Komoka and its surrounding areas.
Dr. Stephanie McLellan
OPTOMETRIST
Having grown up down the road from Komoka, Dr. Stephanie McLellan is thrilled to have the chance to connect with and serve patients close to her hometown. She is passionate about her career in optometry and is always looking for ways to continue to learn and grow with her patients. Dr. McLellan spent three years living and training at the National Ballet School in Toronto, before pursuing a career in vision science. Dr. McLellan attended the University of Western Ontario and then received both her Bachelor of Vision Science and her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University in Florida (where she won the Pioneer Ophthalmic Primary Care award for excellence as a clinician). Dr. McLellan has a special interest in Sports Vision and binocular vision disorders, and has provided vision screening for Special Olympics athletes and assisted participants in the Lighthouse of Broward County’s Yoga for the Blind. Dr. McLellan is driven by her goal of having a positive impact on every patient she sees by making them feel heard, well taken care of and comfortable.
Dr. Simran Grewal
OPTOMETRIST
Over the past two decades, Dr. Simran Grewal has left a profound impact on patients, spanning multiple continents. Originally from Mississauga, her academic journey commenced at McMaster University, where she obtained a BSc before venturing into optometry in the UK. Notably, Dr. Grewal serves as the Clinical Director of Special Olympics Canada, advocating for individuals with special needs across both Canada and the USA. Outside of her professional achievements, Dr. Grewal finds joy in exploration. As an enthusiastic traveler and hiker, she embraces a fitness-driven lifestyle. In 2023, she and her husband made Komoka their home, driven by a desire to serve the community. With an interest in dry eye management and myopia control, she provides tailored insights into frame choices and contact lens use, always considering individual lifestyles.
Dr. Chantelle Procunier
OPTOMETRIST
Chantelle Procunier discovered her passion for science and anatomy at the University of Guelph while earning her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. During this time, she enriched her community involvement by leading exercise programs for seniors with the Victorian Order of Nurses and creating vibrant atmospheres in retirement homes. Driven by her commitment to eye health, she pursued her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, graduating with Deans’ Honours.
In her final year, Dr. Chantelle Procunier undertook clinical externships in diverse settings. In Grande Prairie, Northern Alberta, she honed her skills in disease management, refractive surgery care, and emergency eye exams. Her expertise extends to treating conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes-related eye issues, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and uveitis. She also gained valuable experience in primary care settings in Waterloo, conducting comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages.
Beyond her practice, Dr. Chantelle Procunier finds joy in running, hiking, and exploring new places. She remains dedicated to the advancements in eye care, ensuring her patients receive compassionate and comprehensive treatment tailored to their needs.
Lydia Nancekivell
OFFICE MANAGER
With over 30 years of experience and eight years on Dr. Chan’s optometry team, Lydia’s first priority is building long-lasting relationships with new Komoka Optometry patients. Having settled in this area just two years ago, she has wholeheartedly embraced the local community and feels privileged to be an integral part of it. As part of the team at Komoka Optometry, Lydia is here to assist you with all aspects of your visit to make sure you have only an excellent experience. With decades of experience in the optometry industry, Lydia eagerly pursued further professional growth and accomplishments. In 2022, she successfully obtained her Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) and Ocular Hygienist certification, solidifying her expertise and commitment to excellence. She is thrilled to be part of the team building Komoka Optometry from the ground up to serve you and your vision needs. Lydia loves interacting with patients every day and is always excited to offer travel tips on some of her favorite destinations–Switzerland is her favorite!
Amber Pozniak
LICENSED OPTICIAN | FRAME STYLIST
As a licensed optician with the National Association of Canadian Optician Regulators, Amber brings both professional training and years of experience to help you find glasses and lenses that fit your face, vision needs and personality. After completing her Fine Arts Diploma in 2007, a summer job at an optical lab sparked her passion for the optical industry and a love for following the latest in eyewear trends. At Komoka Optometry, Amber brings her artful eye and knowledge of latest trends to help you choose frames that complete your look, with an easy to wear fit. Personally, Amber loves to meet new customers to hear their stories and to share her love of the outdoors, support for local businesses and volunteerism for ALS Canada in return.
Danielle Van de Ven
PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR
As our Patient Care Coordinator, Danielle offers continuous support to all patients at Komoka Optometry, ensuring they leave with a positive and unforgettable experience. Her commitment to excellence shines through as she facilitates patient referrals, schedules appointments, and arranges dry eye clinic sessions, making each patient feel like a cherished part of the Komoka Optometry family. With a proud educational background from Western University and Fanshawe College, she cherishes her life with her family and enjoys spending quality time with loved ones. Danielle’s passion for design and retail has aligned perfectly with providing exceptional vision care experiences. Her belief in determination and genuine passion fuels her contributions to the team’s success.
Diana Rodrigues
OPTICAL ASSISTANT
While her childhood dreams once revolved around the culinary arts, Diana’s journey has led her to embrace a fulfilling role in the optical field while nurturing her passion for cooking and hosting gatherings for cherished family and friends. A proud graduate from Medix College, Diana has remained rooted in her hometown of Strathroy, where she currently resides with her family.Since 2023, Diana has been an integral part of the Komoka Optometry team. In her role as an Optical Assistant, she takes immense delight in guiding patients through the process of selecting frames that accentuate their personal style. Educating patients about the advancements in lens technology is a cherished aspect of her work, and witnessing the joy on their faces when they collect their new glasses brings her immeasurable satisfaction. With her Medical Office certificate and Certified Canadian Optometric Assistant (CCOA) designation, Diana exemplifies her commitment to professional growth and expertise. She firmly believes in the power of hard work and self-belief to overcome adversities.
Liv Jackson
MEDICAL AESTHETICIAN | OCULAR HYGIENIST
Liv Jackson is a talented medical aesthetician with a background in spa management and aesthetics. As one of our medical aestheticians at EyeSpa Komoka, Liv is here to greet and care for patients at the spa and provides a variety of laser and skin treatments, prepares treatment plans and prescribes skin care products. Liv is known for her commitment to keeping the spa and clinic clean, calm, and welcoming to help create an enjoyable environment for every visitor. Liv has 7+ years experience working in various spas, salons and clinics where she gained a diverse set of skills and interests to share with her clients at EyeSpa Komoka. Her drive to help others feel their best selves is part of the reason she joined the strong group of women at EyeSpa Komoka, and she is looking forward to continuous opportunities to learn and expand her skills even further. Liv graduated with honours from Humber College with a major in Spa Management and Esthetics. When Liv is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying active in the gym.
Emily Jackson
RECEPTIONIST
Nestled in Mount Brydges with her fiancé, Emily flourishes within a tight-knit community. Her roles extend well beyond the receptionist desk, reflecting her vibrant spirit and commitment to community growth. A familiar face around town, Emily orchestrates lively markets with Local Galore, serving as a bridge between local businesses and fostering strong community bonds. Additionally, she imparts her musical talents, offering lessons in Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Flute, and Drums, nurturing budding talents within local households.As the cheerful voice that often greets you over the phone, Emily ensures the seamless flow of appointments from start to finish. leaving our patients with a positive experience and a smile. Her profound dedication to supporting local businesses is deeply rooted, as evidenced by her accolades – she was honored in the Peter Fragiskatos’ North London Honour Roll in 2020 and named a recipient of the 2021 Business London top 20 in their 20’s award. Her multifaceted pursuits embody her commitment to creating a more vibrant and connected community, leaving an indelible mark on all those she touches.
Kelsey Khan
OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT | OCULAR HYGIENIST
Kelsey, a recent Western University graduate, infuses her role at Komoka Optometry with a lively spirit and healthcare passion. Her zest for life extends to travel, including a semester in Australia, and sports like tennis and pickleball with friends.
Academically accomplished, Kelsey holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences with a Specialization in Rehabilitation Science. Community service is close to her heart, particularly caring for children with disabilities, organizing joyful and educational outings.
Joining Komoka Optometry has been heartwarming for Kelsey. The supportive atmosphere and commitment to innovative eye care have sparked her enthusiasm. As an Optometric Assistant and Ocular Hygienist, she embraces each day as a chance to learn, aiming to enhance eye health and create memorable patient experiences.
